ANDIUS
Electric & Acoustic Bass

Andius started studying classical piano in 1974. In 1978 he switched to acoustic bass. In 1985 he started playing electric bass and was playing professionaly by 1986. In the early 90's, as a composer and a band leader, Andius had achieved sucess and ecclaim in the south east with his funk jazz fusion group. The band SOUP was voted best jazz band in Charlotte (NC) in 91-93, and best band in Charlestown (SC) in 92. The band SOUP opened up for such bands as The Almond Brothers, Dr. John, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.
In 1996 Andius moved to Seattle, WA to attend Cornish College of the Arts where he studied music performance and composition. He graduated with a BA in music performance in 1999. Since then he has performed in Europe, Asia, Australia, and all of America.
The origional music project called PLATYPUS MUSIC was started in 1999. This band showcased the multi-cultural compositional talents of Andius as well as his virtuosity on the bass. The artists that performed in PLATYPUS MUSIC were the best musicians in the Seattle music scene. First call musicians such as Julian Priester, Jovino Santos-Neto, Mark Ivester, Hans Tueber, and Tor dietrichson were core members.
In 2004 the first Andius CD was recorded and produced. This is a strong album that instantly earns the respect of all serious musicians who hear it. In 2005 Andius moved to the San Francisco Bay area were he gigs locally, tours nationaly, and teaches music lessons.
