Over the past twenty years, George has performed and recorded with such great artists as: Zakir Hussain, Jaki Byard's Apollo Stompers, Gunther Schuller, Jimmy Guiffre, Slide Hampton, Terry Riley, Krishna Bhatt, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Sultan Khan, Aashish Khan, Swapan Chauduri, Etta James, Anthony Braxton, Albert Collins, Turtle Island String Quartet, Larry Coryell, Henry Kaiser, and Leo Smith.
Throughout the 1980's and 1990's, Brooks regularly toured and performed with Terry Riley. Together they performed in the U.S., Europe and Japan, often with sitarist Krishna Bhatt.
In 1996, Zakir Hussain and Moment Records released LASTING IMPRESSION, Brooks' CD debut as a leader.
