Moses began studying cello privately at an early age and later in his teens, developed an interest in composition and improvisation. He studied music theory, improvisation, and composition from pianist/teacher, Philip Raphael, who became his mentor and oversaw his education for eight years.
Moses attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle Washington. There he continued his classical education while pursuing his interests in Composition, and Jazz improvisation.
After becoming inspired by the beauty of Indian music, Moses moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to study with Maestros Ali Akbar Khan and Swapan Chaudhuri. For five years he devoted himself entirely to learning the instrumental and vocal music of North India.
Since then Moses has been involved in creating ensembles that combine improvisation, and composition with musical flavors from India, the Middle East, Western Classical music, and Jazz. In 1987 he was commissioned by the Lines Contemporary Ballet (Alonzo King) to compose a piece for their performance.
